サウンドアーティスト。本名、江原寛人。2004年11月にportを設立。先鋭的な電子音楽作品を発表し、国内外でのパフォーマンスを行う一方、映像媒体や実空間へのサウンドデザインやサウンドプロデュース、最新テクノロジーを用いたインタラクティヴなプロダクトの開発なども多く手掛ける。2006年に発表した自身初のソロアルバム「initial」(port/2006)は、フィールドレコーディングされた音素材の人工的なプロセスによる加工/編集によって作り出された強靭かつ繊細なサウンドが "日本の最前線を担う音響作"と評され大きな話題を呼んだ。また多様なクリエーターを擁したATAKにも所属し、2009年初旬よりヨーロッパ、アジア数カ国から日本にわたる「ATAK NIGHT4」ツアーでは、そのダイナミックなライブパフォーマンスが世界的に高く評価されるほか、 アルスエレクトロニカ入賞のサウンド・インスタレーション作品「filmachine」(YCAM/2006),「filmachine in Berlin」(transmediale/2008)での立体音響プログラム、コンサートにおける音とインタラクティブなビジュアルプログラムなども担う。他にも、プログラミング環境Max/MSPのヘビーユーザーとしても知られ、東京大学や東京芸術大学などで講義も行う。フィールドレコーディングをアーカイブしている自身のブログ「hacking tone」は、音景の異なる海外からのアクセスが絶えない。

evala is a sound artist based in Tokyo, Japan. evala has released 3 electronic music albums and developed a lot of sound designs and other sound products. In 2004 he founded the independent label "port". His first album "initial" (port/2006) had a great impact on the electronic music scene with its strong and sensitive sounds. "initial" was acclaimed to be "a Japanese cutting edge sound art work". evala's signature style is an uncompromisingly artificial editing process of field recorded material. In his collaboration with ATAK, evala received high acclaim for his performance in the "ATAK NIGHT 3" (ATAK/2007). evala programmed the multiphonic 3D sound installation "filmachine" (YCAM/2006, transmediale/2008) and is responsible for the visual programming of his or Keiichiro Shibuya's concerts.
