大阪築港赤レンガ倉庫での伝説の電子音楽シリーズイベント「port」(主催: 大阪市/大阪研究支援事業)に出演した日本のサウンドアートやエレクトロニカシーンの最前線を担う10組のアーティスト達が、新たな1楽曲を提示し合うコンピレーション作品。2004年秋にサウンドアーティストevalaにより設立された前出のイベントと同名のレーベル『port』第1弾リリース作品。

A groundbreaking compilation showcasing 10 new tracks by the most remarkable cutting-edge artists who lead today's Japanese sound art and electronica scene. The 1st released album from port label established by a sound artist evala in autumn 2004.

ラップトップ・ミュージックが、単なる技術的なアップデイトではなく、美学的な変革の志向をも兼ね備えていること。だが、それを証明するには、才能とディシプリンと大胆不敵さとが必要だ。彼らはスタイルの違いこそあれ、この難題に挑戦し、鮮やかな結果を弾き出している。ポスト・クリック＆カッツ・ジェネレーションの世界最良のショウケースが、ここにある。

今そこにある響きに耳をすます静かな感受性と、どこにもない音を鳴らす骨太な衝動が、なるほどこんな手もあったかと驚く十通りの冴えたやり方で表現された、これはコンピレーションではなく「組曲」として聴くべき一枚。各曲に共通するのは、堅牢な構造と躍動するグルーヴの絶妙な配合。有名な言葉をもじって呼ばせてもらえば、これは「建築について踊る音楽」だ。

Laptop music must be regarded as both technical advancement and an aesthetic revolution. Talent, discipline, and fearlessness however were required for this to be accomplished. Although each musician have their own style, they all faced the challenge to produce brilliant results. The best showcase of post "Clicks & Cuts generation" in the world are assembled here.

One should listen to this CD as not a compilation but as a suite. It is quite new because of the strong impulse that created ten unique sounds while expressing a sensibility that is quiet, clear, and modern. Each track marvelously mixes a solid structure with a throbbing groove. If we can play with the phrase, this is truly "Music to dance architecture".
